PNA Works
The best way to train your staff to answer questions on a product, is to give them some hands on experience in working with it. That's what Tana at PNA Strand did with her ladies, and they enjoyed it thoroughly. Each staff member was asked to bring odds and ends from home, particularly things with interesting textures. They were then each given a canvas, and some DALA TEXTURE PASTE, and some DALA dark basic colour, and metallic, craft paints. The results have been posted on the web for you to see. Remember that some of these ladies had little or no previous experience in working with craft materials. According to Tana they all had great fun and were really proud of their first attempts. Perhaps other retailers should accept this as a challenge to see what they can come up with! What did you do with your Dala today?

Judging by the reaction of the retailers that turned up at 'The Rainbow Experience Gallery and Conference Centre' in central Cape Town for day one of Dala's first Indaba (a showcase and training sessions) on Thursday 13th March, the event is about to become an annual one. It continues on Fri 14th and Sat 15th May. Shop owners were able to see the full range of the ever growing spread of products on offer from K.V ART. Besides the now familiar Dala and Teddy products, the recent introduction of the MISS TEDDY pastel range for girls, and the amalgamation of the JUNIOR TRADESMAN brand, were warmly greeted.
After hearing an introductory welcome by Brand Manager Alan Nel, the V.I.P. guests were told about some V.I.P. characteristics of the K.V. range, name that the products are incredibly VERSATILE, consatantly IMPROVING, and commercially PROFITABLE. The amazing do-it-all Gel Medium, and the underrated Drawing Ink and Sun Paints, captured the imagination of the audience, and will probably now be marketed with a greater understanding of their multi-faceted usefulness. Pam Rabie, a visiting demo-lady and Dala fan, from Wellington, kept onlookers enthralled with all the complex-ities of Découpage. The new, well priced Golden Taklon brush stand was on display, and drew much attention. Retailers were also able to see the Dala web-site at www.dala.co.za, secure their dealer status advertising space on the net, and update their price lists. Valuable feedback to Dala was provided by retailers, and the only complaint was a universal criticism of the liner bottles, which is an aspect that the management team at K.V.Art will have to address to keep the customer satisfied.
The launching of 'The Right Brain Club' was also warmly greeted, and will provide an opportunity for the public, and for shop owners to send their staff, to attend hands-on training on specific aspects of arts and crafts. Club membership will be by means of a voucher system, allowing a flexi-membership for people with busy lifestyles to choose when it suits them to come. All of the versatility of Dala products will be explored in a series of classes in Fine Art, Crafts and Hobbies. A retailer owning a book of vouchers will be able to send any of its staff for training on the same club membership. The classes will be held every Tuesday at 'The Rainbow Experience', a very comfortable and safe venue, with secure indoor parking.
