Young Talent Art Competition
It's that exciting time of year again when the Lindy Van Niekerk Art Gallery holds their annual Young Talent Art Competition. The competition is running from the 19th September to the 13th October 2015.
There are 38 2-hour sessions and they can accommodate 10 children at each session. To book your session contact the gallery 021 975 1744 or email them at: firstname.lastname@example.org. There is a R60 entrance fee per child which includes all art materials needed for your masterpiece, and well worth it considering the awesome prizes they have up for grabs (see flyer above).
The top 10 finalists in each category will be announced on the Lindy Van Niekerk Gallery website (www.lindyvanniekerk.com) on Monday the 18th October, and the finalists will be contacted telephonically on the 19th October. Prize giving takes place on the 22nd October at the gallery and the childrens' work is on display and open to the public for viewing from the 23rd October to the 28th October.
Dala is a proud sponsor of the event, as well as the prize packs for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place holders in each category.

Young Talent Art Competition - Tree of Life - Lindy Van Niekerk Gallery
The period of the 18th of September to the 16th of October saw young artists between the ages of 10 and 13, taking part in an art competition organised by, and located at the Lindy Van Niekerk gallery. Young artists reserved their spots during the allocated time slots and created their artworks at the gallery. The gallery then invited the public to the exhibition evening (21st October 2014) to showcase all works submitted for the month and where 10 finalists would be chosen.
Well done to all the budding artists who took part, and congratulations to the 10 finalists!
Dala is proud to have been involved as a sponsor, and we look forward to the next young talent art competition.
Crafty Kids Tie and Dye
My Crafty kids did them. They have one hour classes once a week where they make all kinds of things! The tie and dye material is for cussions they have painted. One side was done with Sun Paint and salt, the back with marbles and elastic bands.
BEEEG Charity Drive
We would just like to thank you again for your kind sponsorship of the face painting kits for the children at this years BEEEG Charity Drive (BCD2010). Your sponsorship has made a world of difference to the children at the home.
The best way to train your staff to answer questions on a product, is to give them some hands on experience in working with it. That's what Tana at PNA Strand did with her ladies, and they enjoyed it thoroughly. Each staff member was asked to bring odds and ends from home, particularly things with interesting textures. They were then each given a canvas, and some DALA TEXTURE PASTE, and some DALA dark basic colour, and metallic, craft paints. The results have been posted on the web for you to see. Remember that some of these ladies had little or no previous experience in working with craft materials. According to Tana they all had great fun and were really proud of their first attempts. Perhaps other retailers should accept this as a challenge to see what they can come up with! What did you do with your Dala today?
